Penguin Books India and Yatra Books announce an ‘All India Writing Competition’ for new writing in Hindi. The aim of this competition is to uncover new writing talent in the genres of short-fiction, non-fiction and poetry. The best works will be awarded at a glittering media event and will be included in a new Anthology – A Hindi First Proof – We need to have a name in place.  

Regular Penguin readers would recall that for the last couple of years we have been publishing an annual feature – First Proof – an Anthology showcasing new Indian writing in English. We would like to repeat the same experiment in Hindi, but on a much larger scale. An all India writing competition would be a platform to search for talent and recognize and launch regional writers. The media focus would be on smaller towns and cities. It would be a tremendous opportunity to spread awareness in regional India. We plan to make this an annual feature of our Indian Language Publishing Programme.
